NITESHIFT: The Beacon — Part 1

In hindsight, I may have been overconfident about finding The Door.

The Algorithm is much more powerful than I thought, and growing stronger by the day. More and more people are falling prey to its charm and misdirection all the time.

I’m afraid any attempts to fight it directly are futile.We are completely outmatched by its speed, scale, and power.

If we don’t find a way to outmaneuver The Algorithm soon… The Door to NITESHIFT could be lost forever.

Even worse, we could find ourselves lost in the noise as well.

I’ll be honest, I was starting to lose hope… until now.

I recently received an anonymous, garbled message that pointed me in an unexpected direction. Someone, or something, has seemingly managed to find The Door, and is in the process of building a strange machine that we may be able to use to locate it.

It’s called The Beacon.

The Beacon seems to be a communication device of sorts.
It’s clearly unfinished and more than a bit… glitchy. Unreliable.
But it’s the best chance we’ve got.

The more of us that establish, and maintain, a connection to it…
the stronger the signal becomes.
The stronger the signal becomes, the better we can zero in on the location of The Beacon.

And if we find The Beacon… we find The Door.
